Cloud Monitor

From Engineering Grid Wiki

To see that your job is running, type 'qstat' while logged into cloud.seas.wustl.edu. You'll see output like this when it's still waiting to be ran:

[mark@cloud ~]$ qstat
job-ID prior name user state submit/start at queue slots ja-task-ID
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      3 0.00000 cloud.sh mark qw 10/19/2009 14:00:17 1

Your job will look as such when it's running:

[mark@cloud ~]$ qstat
job-ID prior name user state submit/start at queue slots ja-task-ID
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
     4 0.55500 cloud.sh mark r 10/19/2009 14:00:25 all.q@cloud001.int.seas.wustl. 1

If you see a job with a state of "Eqw", it means there's an error in queuing or running the job. Please let EIT Support know and we'll look into it.

One of the more common issues we've seen is incorrect path names. Be sure to use full path names whenever possible - i.e., access an input file as /research-projects/eit/mark/job/input, not job/input.

Your job's output/error files are also a good source of information, if the program you are running does regular output. If you haven't redirected either source, your output will be in a file jobname.ojobid, and the error jobname.ejobid, where jobid is a sequential job identification number assigned by Grid Engine, and jobname is either the name of the script you submitted or what you defined with the -N flag.
